Emily Altman is a Chicago-based theatrical scenic artist that has charged over 90 shows in the Chicagoland area since graduating from Northern Illinois University in 2005 with her BFA in Technical Design for the Theatre.
She was the charge artist at Left Wing Scenic from 2006-2012. In addition to that role, she was a freelance painter with Lookingglass, Steppenwolf, Center for the Performing Arts, Big City Sets, Marriott Theatre, Creature Technology Company and Chicago Scenic. For the 2021-2022 theatre season, Emily worked diligently to negotiate fair contracts between artists and companies and led the calls on 32 productions for some of the city's most prominent institutions such as Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, Writer's Theatre, Porchight Theatre, About Face Theatre, Remy Bumppo, Mercury, Theatre Wit, Windy City Playhouse, American Blues, and many others. She has lead teams on outdoor mural projects in downtown Chicago and frequently hosts art workshops and seminars to attract young artists to the performing art industries.
