Jeff is a scenery and costume designer and has designed for most of Chicago's professional theatre, opera and dance companies, including Court Theatre, Victory Gardens Theater, Wisdom Bridge, Northlight Theatre, The Remains, Chicago Opera Theatre, The Lyric Opera of Chicago, Hubbard Street Dance and Ballet Chicago. Jeffery served as the designer in residence at The Body Politic Theatre during its heyday and at Court Theatre for five years. He received the Joseph Jefferson Award for Best Scene Design for Pygmalion at Court Theatre as well as four nominations. For the past eighteen years most of Jeffery's work has been devoted to creating designs for new works and world premiere opera, ballet and theatre. Jeffery has designed for such noted productions as The Picture Of Dorian Grey and Show Biz at Wisdom Bridge, Frida: The Last Portrait and Comedians at Court Theatre and Still Waters, The Long Awaited, Winter, Fossils and Trying at Victory Gardens. Collaborations with Hubbard Street Dance include three world premieres. Most noted are his designs for Ballet Chicago's The Gift Of The Magi and In a Nutshell, as well as Gesualdo with PBS for which he received an Emmy Nomination. Jeffery has also designed Dracula, Midsummer Night's Dream and Cinderalla at Grand Rapids Ballet, with choreographer Gordon Pierce Schmidt. Recent designs include: Trying Off Broadway at the Promenade Theater and also at Ford's Theater in Washington with James Whitmore; world premiere of Peter Pan for Grand Rapids Ballet. Jeff is also co-founder and Artistic Associate of RPM Productions. ​
