Birgit is an educator, costume designer and theatre maker who calls Chicago her
home.
She has worked with many of the country's leading and local theatres: The Goodman,
New York Shakespeare, Guthrie, Old Globe, Steppenwolf, Marriott Lincolnshire, Victory
Gardens among many others.
A designer of both theatre and dance, her work regularly appeared at The Goodman
Theatre as well as many local and regional companies. Some of her favorite
designs at The Goodman include Two Trains Running, By the Way, Meet Vera Stark
and Red. As a member of Robert Falls’ design team for the Tony Award winning
production of Death of a Salesman she helped bring the Goodman production to
Broadway, Los Angeles and London’s West End.
Her dance designs include projects with Hubbard Street Dance Chicago,
Milwaukee Ballet and the Trinity Irish Dancers.
As Head Draper at the Goodman Theatre she was responsible for bringing costume
sketches to life for many of the nation's leading and emerging designers.
