Jose (they, he, el) is a multidisciplinary Chicago-based artist, educator, arts administrator, and facilitator from New Jersey. Their passion lies within the intersection of art, education, and activism to explore themes and topics of race, ethnicity, queerness, and (dis)abilities. Their work resonates their own identity as a queer, visually-impaired, Mexican-American/Latinx person (the order varies on the day). He is currently the LGBTQ+ project support intern for Chicago Public School's office of student health and wellness in the sexual health team. In 2021, they were commissioned by coLab Arts to bring two oral stories to life as part of their TrueSelves a play on gender project. They are currently an emerging teaching artist for The Theatre School's Creative Root department. Jose plans to continue living in Chicago and freelance as an artist and educator.
