An immersive festival of new work from the next generation of playwrights.
About the Festival
Wrights of Spring is an annual festival that celebrates new work by the next generation of playwrights and comedy artists. Produced by a team of BFA Theatre Management students, WOS is a collaborative and student-driven festival providing playwriting and comedy arts students an intensive, developmental laboratory and an opportunity to showcase their work in front of an audience.
Wrights of Spring also features an array of special events that celebrate the festival’s spirit of ingenuity, play and community building around original student generated work. Our opening night festivities has featured a Playwrights Slam, special guests and the public reveal of Playwrights Central. The Debutante Ball introduces the voices of BFA I Playwrights and Comedy Artists and recognizes graduating seniors with awards, including the Lawrence Bundschu and Warren Snoddy Endowed Playwriting Prize, the Raven Playwriting Prize, the Theatre School Dramaturgy Prize, the Donald M. Ephraim Achievement Award, and the Dean's Prize. Other events sprinkled throughout the festival range from original comedy to music performance.
