Schedule an Interview

About the interview

You will interview one-on-one with the faculty head of the program to which you are applying. We believe that during the interview, the questions you have for us are as important as the questions we have for you. There is no fixed format or schedule of questions for the interview, so you will be evaluated as an individual by an individual. The faculty member who conducts the interview will be interested in your theatre experiences, academic record, personal achievements, extracurricular activities and plans for your artistic future. The best preparation for the interview is to be curious; come with plenty of questions about courses, instructors, programs of study, student life and anything else you would like to discuss.

About the Writing Samples

As part of your application you must submit two writing samples. One writing sample should be three pages on a dramatic subject, for example, an analysis of a play that you have read or seen. The other writing sample should be a three-page mission statement describing your objectives in the theatre.

On-campus interviews

On campus interviews are held on select Saturday mornings and begin with check-in at 9 am and generally end no later than 1 pm. Interviews are held at The Theatre School.

Regional interviews

Interviews are held regionally on select dates in Houston, New York City and San Francisco. Regional interviews are scheduled every hour on the hour beginning at 9am and ending at 6 pm. ‚Äč
