​Celeste ​M. Cooper is an actor, producer, solo performer/writer, teacher, and director. She is an ensemble member at Steppenwolf Theatre Company and an ensemble member/ casting associate at Eclipse Theatre Company. Some of her acting credits include BLKS (Steppenwolf), The Doppelgänger: an international farce (Steppenwolf), Familiar (Steppenwolf), A Doll’s House, Part 2 (Steppenwolf), Duchess! Duchess! Duchess! (Steppenwolf); Blues for an Alabama Sky (Court Theatre), The Hard Problem (Court Theatre); Measure for Measure (Goodman Theatre); Stick Fly (Windy City Playhouse); Never the Sinner (Victory Gardens Theater); Our Lady of 121st Street (Eclipse Theatre), Ruined (Eclipse Theatre); How We Got On (Citadel Theatre); Barbecue (Strawdog Theatre); The Mecca Tales (Chicago Dramatists); You On The Moors Now (remount-Hypocrites/ Theater on the Lake) Fight 4 Your Life (writer, producer, & performer at different venues), The Incredible Cece (writer, producer, & performer at different venues). Regional Theatre credits: Mrs. Harrison (Indiana Repertory Theatre); For Colored Girls (Kansas City Repertory in Kansas City, MO); Building The Wall (Curious Theatre Company in Denver, CO); The Hammer Trinity (The House Theatre/Adrienne Arsht in Miami, Florida). Celeste’s TV/film credits include leading an indie feature currently streaming called Range Runners, a recurring role on Chicago PD, Spike Lee’s Chiraq, Sense8, guest star role on 4400, various short films, and commercials. In 2014, Celeste won The Phylicia Rashad- Most Promising Actress award from the Black Theater Alliance, in 2018 Court Theatre’s Blues for an Alabama Sky won Best Production from the Jeff Awards, in 2019 she won Best Actress for her work in Range Runners at the Twister Alley Film Festival, in 2020 she was listed in the NewCity Stage Players magazine as one of the 50 people who really perform for Chicago, and in 2021 Steppenwolf’s Duchess! Duchess! Duchess! was listed as a New York Times critic’s pick. She has a B.A. in Speech Communications & Theatre from Tennessee State University and an M.F.A. in Acting from The Theatre School at DePaul University. Celeste is currently represented by Paonessa Talent Agency.
